We Have a Tooth!

So the title says it all. We have the beginings of a tooth...FINALLY!!!! His bottom left (or right if you are looking at him)...just a speck of white but it's something. These last few months of excessive drool and chewing on EVERYTHING finally have a result. Its about time. No pictures yet as it's not quite big enough to really see but as soon as it's clearly visible there will be pictures.

Happy Mother's Day

My first mother's day went well, uneventful, but well! E got me a laptop, which is AWESOME. I needed one, but don't have the money...thanks baby :) We went to the park this morning with the camera and tripod to try and take some nice family pictures. It was ridiculously hot (record breaking in fact at 96 degrees) and a little windy and none of us were really in the mood to pose for cute pics, so after a few shots we packed it up and headed back to the A/C. Before we left the baby decided he wanted to know what dirt tasted like so he went face first into it.....added a nice touch to the white sweater vest.....oh well, the baby and i took a nap and then this evening we went to Outback (we still had gift cards from christmas). Not the best tonight, steak overcooked, and the veggies I got for my side were a bit mushy, oh well, better luck next time.

After we got home and took off all his clothes he decided that playing with the ad circular that came in the mail sounded like fun. So we spent about a half hour flinging it around and ripping it to pieces....why do I spend money on toys? The paper and an empty gatorade bottle entertained him for about an hour, longer than any toy he's ever had!

Job Hunt...

The interview at Gulliver went well. I met with the math department chair, the Headmaster (because he is just too important to be called the principal), and some other guy (the dean of curriculum maybe??). It seemed to go well, maybe i'm just not as confident about this one to think it went well becasue i really want this position. Anyways, I loved it there. It was beautiful (of course I wouldnt expect less considering tuition for high school is an amazing 20K a year) and everyone in the interview seemed really nice, although the headmaster was tough to read, he just kind of sat there and observed. So, they also want me to come teach a lesson, which is possibly going to be next wednesday, the deptartment chair will call me next monday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Besides the fact i liked it there the salary ismore than i'm making now, which is fabulous considering private schools are usually less than public, and they serve lunch free to the faculty everyday....free food is always a positive thing. I like free, especially when it's food! :) When I left the parking lot was full of parents picking up their kids. I felt mildly incompetent getting into my Honda Ridgline in the sea of mercedes, bmw, and lexus SUVs, not to mention a few Hummers and cadillacs and other expensive rides. And while my truck is brand new it just doesnt measure up! But thats fine, nothings perfect!!

The lesson I was supposed to teach at La Salle was postponed till the end of the month due to schedule changes at the school. Thats a good thing though, I will hopefully have an answer from Gulliver before then so I know whether I even need to go teach the lesson. So yeah, i'm waiting and hoping that things work out the way I would like.

My portfolio passed!! YAY!!! That was the only thing I needed left to finish to get my professional teaching certificate. YAY!! Out of 48 points I got 33, the minimum needed to pass....not to bad for a day and a half of work on a project that was a 2 year long assignment! What a releif....

And we put an offer on a house....i'm not holding my breath but we'll see.

Wedding Pics....

oooh, the long awaited "wedding"piccs.... i only have a few that were taken with our camera. i havent gotten any from anyone else...

Not only is he crawling he is also pulling up to stand....and attempting to toddle around.....but he cant do that very well yet, although i'm sure it isnt far away....
He has however just about mastered crawling....and because of that his new nickname is speed racer...and he certainly lives up to the name! Other than getting into EVERYTHING, he is a blast to watch as he explores everything and anything. We bought a "corral" to keep him contained safely
And i think it adds a very nice design element to our dining room, especially with the choice of colors and the easy accessability it provides to the dining room table....

And then of course is the fabulous parenting skills we have expressed through the last picture...he looks so mature holding onto the beer while sitting in his highchair! Of course he wasnt drinking the beer for those who might want to think we would actually give our child beer, it was purely for a fun photographic moment... and now he crawls directly toward any bottle that might be around and the cries when you take the beer away. Good habits start young...
On a personal note...I interviewed at another private school last week - Immaculata-La Salle. For those who know I went to a LaSalle in RI although this one is not owned by the same people. I loved it there, the Principal Sister Pat was awesome and not a bit scary and the department chair was also wonderful. I have to go teach a lesson on tuesday at 1:30 to an algebra 2 honors class, hopefully it goeswell. Gulliver called (my previous top choice) to set up and interview, that has been set up for tuesday at 3:30....if i get offered both positions it is going to be a really tough choice...

Crawling

The baby is crawling. he practically flies across the livingroom going toward any and every hard and unforgiving surface (the glass bottom stand of the tv, under the high chair, the sliding glass door). The sliding glass door is my favorite so far, as he doesnt quite have the concept of glass down yet. He tries to crawl through it and when his head "thuds" against the door he looks up all perplexed and then proceeds to either keep trying to crawl through it or bangs on it with his hands. Either way is pretty amusing.
Work is work. I am trying to finish up all my requirements so that I can get my Profesisonal Certificate of Teaching (I have my temporary now) so that I dont get fired this summer. I passed my subject area test for math 6-12 (woo-hoo) and i turned in my portfolio (hoping i did just enough to get a passng score although i may have to fix it and re-submit) and I have another test next week thats required. WHile trying to study and complete homework for another required class i need for certification i am also trying to teach (hmmm, what a novel idea...teaching when your job is a teacher) but i seem to be falling short inthat department somewhat...whatever, i'm not even sure if I care. I am also applying for teaching jobs at some private schools. There are 3 that I would consider teaching at. Ransom Everglades that has no open positions, Columbus HS which I have an interview at next week, and Gulliver Prep, my first choice by far but i'm still waiting to hear from them to schedule an interview. I'm pretty sure i'll get hired at Columbus but after talking to a friend who knows someone there I am re-considering. They are super rigid (which definately has its benefits) with both their students and teachers. and by rigid i mean (oh and did imention its a catholic all boys school?) they have a unform, which is fine, but when you dictate what shoes you MUST wear (sketchers model XXXX to be exact - dont actually know the model) I feel thats a tad extreme. SO if I get hired that means taking out all my earings and probably having to buy a whole new wardrobe to fit their stiff and uncompromising rules and regulations (anyone else see a problem with this?)...hmmm, but i also have to think of the baby....if i do work there i'm sure he'll go for free of a super discount which would be greatly needed as i REFUSE to send my child to public school here. they are horrible and i actually want to give my son a good education and foundation for college not just the ability to take the FCAT. so we wait to hear from Gulliver......hopefully soon.

And to add to the mess of things going on we are trying to buy a house. The first one we really wanted fell through. Not because we werent approved or whatnot but becasue the edition on the back of the house has code violations....which means no permits....which would require us to probably have to tear it down and rebuild it. no thanks, we'll keep shopping. a few others we liked are in good shape and affordable but we want one with enough space on the side to put the jet skis...2 jet skis side by side on a double trailer. and if you live in miami you understand the difficulty in that. .....find a house where you cant reach out your window and into your neighbors isnt all that easy...but we're still trying.

Wedding and more....

So my parents and step-parents threw me and E a "wedding reception" this past saturday. Despite all of the possible things that couldve gone wrong everything actually turned out pretty good. The 4 tangueray and tonics i had certainly helped. There were hors d'oevers that were brought around and a cheese spread i think (i didnt get any of them.....i dont even think i was offered as i was required to "mingle")...but they looked good on other people's plates! And then there was serve yourself stations of food. The alfredo was good and the pesto and shrimp pizza was also good, although I only got a few bites of each. I shouldve ate more, but oh well.... Then there was dancing and such and more tangueray......all in all things turned out well. yay. i was worried. After the party me and E and our friends went out in Providence......Club Prov if anyone actually cares. More drinks, a little dancing and some high-flying superman fun.....then becasue we didnt want to drive and the cab couldnt get to where we were as they close down the streets in providence when the clubs get out we decided instead of walking to where the cab could get us we thought it would be a good idea to walk all the way back to Federal Hill. We had a room at the new little boutique-y hotel Dolce Villa (part of the restaurant). It was nice, all white and pretty comfy. And good breakfast the following morning at Dolce Villa the restaurant.

The baby has decided he wants to be mobile......he has taken his first little crawls (can you make it a singular verb?) He took one crawl?? whatever...he has successfully moved forward with 2 crawls, then lays flat on his belly and does it again. He is officially mobile. and that is pretty scary :) i'm sure i'll get pictures of the "wedding" and when i do i will post them.

sorry this post sucks, i though i should write about the party even though i'mnot so much in the mood to write.
