Crawling

The baby is crawling. he practically flies across the livingroom going toward any and every hard and unforgiving surface (the glass bottom stand of the tv, under the high chair, the sliding glass door). The sliding glass door is my favorite so far, as he doesnt quite have the concept of glass down yet. He tries to crawl through it and when his head "thuds" against the door he looks up all perplexed and then proceeds to either keep trying to crawl through it or bangs on it with his hands. Either way is pretty amusing.
Work is work. I am trying to finish up all my requirements so that I can get my Profesisonal Certificate of Teaching (I have my temporary now) so that I dont get fired this summer. I passed my subject area test for math 6-12 (woo-hoo) and i turned in my portfolio (hoping i did just enough to get a passng score although i may have to fix it and re-submit) and I have another test next week thats required. WHile trying to study and complete homework for another required class i need for certification i am also trying to teach (hmmm, what a novel idea...teaching when your job is a teacher) but i seem to be falling short inthat department somewhat...whatever, i'm not even sure if I care. I am also applying for teaching jobs at some private schools. There are 3 that I would consider teaching at. Ransom Everglades that has no open positions, Columbus HS which I have an interview at next week, and Gulliver Prep, my first choice by far but i'm still waiting to hear from them to schedule an interview. I'm pretty sure i'll get hired at Columbus but after talking to a friend who knows someone there I am re-considering. They are super rigid (which definately has its benefits) with both their students and teachers. and by rigid i mean (oh and did imention its a catholic all boys school?) they have a unform, which is fine, but when you dictate what shoes you MUST wear (sketchers model XXXX to be exact - dont actually know the model) I feel thats a tad extreme. SO if I get hired that means taking out all my earings and probably having to buy a whole new wardrobe to fit their stiff and uncompromising rules and regulations (anyone else see a problem with this?)...hmmm, but i also have to think of the baby....if i do work there i'm sure he'll go for free of a super discount which would be greatly needed as i REFUSE to send my child to public school here. they are horrible and i actually want to give my son a good education and foundation for college not just the ability to take the FCAT. so we wait to hear from Gulliver......hopefully soon.

And to add to the mess of things going on we are trying to buy a house. The first one we really wanted fell through. Not because we werent approved or whatnot but becasue the edition on the back of the house has code violations....which means no permits....which would require us to probably have to tear it down and rebuild it. no thanks, we'll keep shopping. a few others we liked are in good shape and affordable but we want one with enough space on the side to put the jet skis...2 jet skis side by side on a double trailer. and if you live in miami you understand the difficulty in that. .....find a house where you cant reach out your window and into your neighbors isnt all that easy...but we're still trying.

Wedding and more....

So my parents and step-parents threw me and E a "wedding reception" this past saturday. Despite all of the possible things that couldve gone wrong everything actually turned out pretty good. The 4 tangueray and tonics i had certainly helped. There were hors d'oevers that were brought around and a cheese spread i think (i didnt get any of them.....i dont even think i was offered as i was required to "mingle")...but they looked good on other people's plates! And then there was serve yourself stations of food. The alfredo was good and the pesto and shrimp pizza was also good, although I only got a few bites of each. I shouldve ate more, but oh well.... Then there was dancing and such and more tangueray......all in all things turned out well. yay. i was worried. After the party me and E and our friends went out in Providence......Club Prov if anyone actually cares. More drinks, a little dancing and some high-flying superman fun.....then becasue we didnt want to drive and the cab couldnt get to where we were as they close down the streets in providence when the clubs get out we decided instead of walking to where the cab could get us we thought it would be a good idea to walk all the way back to Federal Hill. We had a room at the new little boutique-y hotel Dolce Villa (part of the restaurant). It was nice, all white and pretty comfy. And good breakfast the following morning at Dolce Villa the restaurant.

The baby has decided he wants to be mobile......he has taken his first little crawls (can you make it a singular verb?) He took one crawl?? whatever...he has successfully moved forward with 2 crawls, then lays flat on his belly and does it again. He is officially mobile. and that is pretty scary :) i'm sure i'll get pictures of the "wedding" and when i do i will post them.

sorry this post sucks, i though i should write about the party even though i'mnot so much in the mood to write.

Happy Easter to everyone (a little late but its better than nothing). Our Easter was uneventful, we stayed in our pj's all day and eventually made it out to Wal-Mart as it was the only store open on the holiday.....not all that exciting. i figured to sort of make it feel like Easter I made ham steaks for dinner with cous cous and corn on the side. yay, so very easter like right? :) Anyways, the new truck is AWESOME!!!! I have never had a new car...new is nice and i think i love it almost as much as my own child, its clean and pretty and smells like new car and has very few miles....yay. i dont think i will ever buy used again, there is just something so nice about having a new car. and i have become one of those people who parks away from everyone else and freaks out if i think there is a scratch....
Other things going on....we are talking about buying a house. yes, we own a condo (a fabulous 3rd floor apt) but with a kid a house would be nice, with a room for the computer instead of using the baby's closet....and a yard where he can play and we can bbq etc.... so yeah, not that we can sell our condo as we are approximately 80K upside down on it currently, thanks to the market crashing 6 months after we closed on the property.....so we are looking at options to buy another property and trying to rent out the current one...or maybe we will tel the bank....ooops, we cant afford the condo, you can have it back. granted that would seriously screw up my credit which is over 700 now (i have worked super hard to fix it) but we would have a house and both have new cars so maybe it wouldnt be that bad??? i dont know....it really sucks that we are stuck in the stupid condo when we could buy a 4 bedroom house now with the amount we financed for the condo :( ick.

Jungle Island

On Saturday we went to Jungle Island with our friends Lindsay, Chris and Amelia. We had a blast. Walking into the park we were greeted by the opportunity to hold some parrots which Little E seemed to enjoy although I dont have those pictures yet. We saw a show about parrots and other large birds which to my surprise actually kept the baby's attention and there were lots of opportunities to touch and pet other sorets of animals around the park. We got our picture taken with the kangaroos and Little E even got to pet a tiger cub! i think I enjoyed it more than he did but it sure was an experience!

We all had fun feeding the parrots and walking around looking at the animals.

Other weekend news....

So on sunday night I got approved for a car loan..yay! I've been looking into buying a new car and it was about time. Taking the baby in and out of a 2 door car is getting quite difficult considering how heavy he is now (over 16.5 lbs). So we were going to go look at cars sometime this week or this weekend. However, I think my car got pissed that I was going to trade her in and decided that instead of giving me lots of time to shop around and get lots of quotes she would rather just die on monday instead. Thanks car, I REALLY appreciate it. Luckily I had already decided on what car I was going to get (a Honda Ridgeline) and had already contacted 2 dealers to try and get the best deal. So tonight I go and get a new car....being able to get to and from work is a major plus...

I also have an interview at a new school that just opend up less than 5 miles from my in laws today at 2pm. This will make transporting the baby there before work SO much easier....I had to be out of my house by 5:45 am to ensure that I would make it to work on time when I drop him off....so hopefully all goes well. I'm not worried as I know the assisstant principal and another employee there. yay, new car and new job. yay. :)

Happy Pi Day!

For those of you who are not super dorks today is Pi Day! What is Pi Day? Well, hopefully you all know what Pi is, you know, that mathematical symbol you use when calculating things that do with circles.....it is equal to 22/7 or 3.1415926 etc etc etc.... well today is March 14th, or 3/14 .....yeah, i know, super dorky. Anyways, we planned a big Pi Day thing today at the PAC program. We brought boatloads of pies (surprise surprise) and beads to make pi necklaces with the girls and there was going to be a pi relay race for the boys among lots of other pi related activities all ending with us all eating lots of pie (cherry, apple, pecan, pumpkin, key lime, turtle, mango key lime and a few others). And we bought Pi shirts....theyre cute and i love them. But, when we got to FIU this am we discovered there had been a problem with the buses and only 7 of our 70 students were actually here......so we are left with lots of food and no students. we are postponing the pi day festivities until monday.

Look what my kid can do!

Thats right, your eyes are not deceiving you....my son is driving. We are very proud, at the ripe old age of 6 months we now have a seasoned driver on our hands....what will he do next?!?!

Next is the classic bath pictures. We love our bathtime. splashing and making a huge mess, its probably time to graduate to the big tub soon, or at least put the baby tub IN the big tub or i'm afraid we might flood our kitchen.

Not a whole lot else to say, well there is but i'm not exactly in the mood to write, so youll all have to wait till next time for something moreinteresting to read.

yay!

i didnt embarrass myself last night at the game..yay! in fact i actually looked like i knew how to play...double yay! unfortunately we lost, its the first lost the team has had in like 20 games.....3 seaons straight almost....mmmmm, kind of ironic. but i know it wasnt my fault....the ref was a joke and was giving out red and yellow cards all game to both teams....and there were some other issues. but all in all it was fun. yay.
